Strengthening education and mental health systems is central to our aims for sustainable development in education in crisis and conflict settings.

REQUEST for FUNDING SUPPORT
Over the past 15 years we have been capacity building school counselors to deliver trauma recovery programs to traumatized school children in the occupied Palestinian territories. We have introduced a range of programs that have reduced posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in the child population from 65% to 25% across the whole of the West Bank, Palestine. As we continue to address the disparity of mental health provision for Palestinian children in the region, we counter-culturally work with Palestinian and Israeli mental health practitioners and academics.
Faith-wise, we have a partnership Dr Bernard Sabella, executive secretary of the Department of Service to Palestinian Refugees of the Middle East Council of Churches and with the Christian National Association (CNA) in Palestine who support our efforts through prayer.
Our enduring partnerships with the Ministries of Education and Social Affairs and the Children and War Foundation has led to the development of national policies on effective treatments for child mental health. In partnership with the Ministries and 12 Higher Education Institutions in Palestine, we organized a recent National Symposium with international presentations to share knowledge and disseminate our Palestine-based research on the efficacy of trauma recovery treatments to address mental health in Palestine since the Genocide in Gaza and the dramatic increase in military and settler violence in the West Bank.
Our organization on the ground continues to strengthen, with increasing numbers of counselors with higher levels of qualification and expertise in an ongoing diversity of trauma-informed programs, supported by peer supervision, and a national school counselor Palestinian online network.
Our request is a simple but necessary one for us. To maintain our training and development of school counselors we need funding from a wide range of sources. We have been fortunate to date to be supported by the Children and War Foundation, however, that funding has ended.
